Toilet bowl rings - no one wants them. The earlier you attack this problem, the easier it will be to remove the ring. A thorough cleaning with a commercial acid-based bowl cleaner may do the trick. If not, there are other ways to tackle the problem.

- Acid-based bowl cleaner
- Toilet bowl brush or wand
- Green, nylon-backed scrub sponge
- Pumice Stone
- Gloves
- Water

1Step 1Apply cleaner
Wearing gloves, apply a commercial acid-based bowl cleaner to the toilet ring

2Step 2Scrub
Clean using a toilet bowl brush or wand. If the bowl cleaner doesn't work, try using a green, nylon-backed scrub sponge along with the acid.
If the ring is old, use a pumice stone. Wearing gloves, wet the stone with water in the bowl and rub it on the ring. Keep the stone wet the entire time you're scrubbing. Pumice stones should only be used on vitreous china toilets - never on colored, enamel or plastic fixtures.

3Step 3Rinse clean
Flush the toilet to rinse the cleaner.
Once you've gotten rid of a ring, weekly cleanings should keep it from coming back.

Attack toilet bowl rings as soon as they form. Be sure to clean weekly to keep the rings from resurfacing.
