We’ve all seen the houses that just look inviting. They have little touches that let you know someone cares. You know that if they’re taking that much care with the outside of their house, then the inside must also look well-loved! So what can you do to increase the curb appeal of your home?

Window Boxes

Window boxes are a fast and easy way to add both color and charm. There are a variety of styles to fit your neighborhood. Painted wood, iron, or copper are all popular options. And who doesn’t love flowers? Make sure you buy flowers that work for full or partial sun. You’ll need to water them, but the amount of effort is worth the results.

Paint Your Front Door

Guess what – there’s no rule saying your front door has to be white. Choose something daring, like a primary color that sets off the rest of your décor. It makes a statement! Clean your fixtures with a metal polish to make it look brand new. If you don’t like it, you can always paint again.

You’ve Got Mail

A new mailbox is a nice touch. There are so many different and creative ones available on the internet. If your mailbox is on your house, you can choose a style that fits with your home. If it’s by the road, you can plant flowers around it to immediately make your home prettier. Painting the mailbox to match your home or personalizing it with decals are also ways you can easily make your home look more inviting. Maybe you’ll even get more mail!

Wreath

Ever knocked on someone’s door and thought – this looks lovely. They’ve got a nice welcome mat, they have a painted chair, they have a seasonal wreath. If this all sounds too difficult – it’s not! You don’t have to make any crafts with your own hands. If you’re not into foraging for art supplies, wreaths are available everywhere for purchase. It’s a nice, easy first step.

Power Washing

Increasing curb appeal isn’t all about decorating. Take a hard look at your house. When’s the last time it got a good scrubbing? Borrow or rent a power washer to really freshen up the exterior of your home. Siding, wood, and aluminum are safe surfaces to power wash, and then you can move right onto decks and concrete. Remember to test on a small portion and use at an angle so you don’t leave marks.

Drive Right In

Is your driveway cracked, stained, or has weeds growing out of it? No problem. First, spray the weeds and continue spraying them as needed. Clean up the stains (see power sprayer) and repair cracks if possible. Sometimes it’s the small things that can make a big difference in curb appeal.
