Did you know Merry Maids was founded here in your backyard? Yes, that’s right...Merry Maids® was established in Omaha, Nebraska, in December 1979, by Dallen and Glenda Peterson. They incorporated their strong beliefs in serving others and honoring God from day one and today, our Merry Maids of Omaha office still gets the opportunity to show that same commitment to the hundreds of families and homes we take care of each week! Our team of 30 associates takes such pride is being part of the “original” Merry Maids after 45+ years in business! As we have seen our cities grow into a large metropolitan area since our conception, we still value the importance of the “small town” culture by knowing our neighborhoods, schools, and churches. We especially love to learn about your home, your family and fur babies, to provide a personal relationship with each person we get to touch regularly.
Nichole Porter, the owner of Merry Maids of Omaha, began her career with the company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in August 1996. At this time, she was pursuing her college education and needed a job with a flexible work schedule, which she found at that local Merry Maids office. She enjoyed and knew about cleaning, being the oldest of six children from a farming family in northwest Iowa. Little did she know, this path would take her through various career opportunities within the Merry Maids corporate company and land her in Omaha, Nebraska in 2001. 
 
In 2015, Nichole and her husband, Lee, were given the chance to purchase this ‘original’ location from the Merry Maids franchisor and continue today to incorporate the same passion and culture of ‘doing the right thing’ just like the founders of Merry Maids! After 29 years in this business, Nichole still enjoys coming to work each day to take care of her Merry Maids ‘family’ so they can serve the Merry Maids clients with love too. She always says, ‘This business can be simple… if you have happy team members, they will make the clients happy and that will make me happy as the owner too… it is truly a simple circle of love’

Giving back to our community has been a priority for our Merry Maids of Omaha office for the past several years. Each summer, Merry Maids clients help support a local charity through personal and monetary donations, in which the Merry Maids team members will pick up from their client’s home and deliver to the perspective establishment. These charities have included Project Harmony, Scatter Joy Acres, Heartland Family Service and Children’s Nebraska hospital to name a few… The joy of giving back in whatever ways we can, through the support of our clients, allows us to have the ‘feel good’ moments throughout the tough dog days of summer.
We will be announcing by mid-May the charity selected for this 2025 donation drive, so we want to thank you for your support in advance! Please check back for details and pictures to come of how the donation drive is going and how you might be able to help!
 
We enjoy spending time with our families outside of our normal business hours! On April 13th, we got to enjoy a Spring Party at The Fat Putter, a local miniature golf company with 4 different course options available.
 
Over 60 years of combined experience, these two ladies have been critical to our success here in Omaha, Nebraska. Ms. Terri started with the original Merry Maids location in March 1994, while Joan began her employment at a neighboring franchise in Papillion, Nebraska in December 1994.
 
Ms. Terri loves to garden and provides many fresh fruits and vegetables during the summer season to her peers and clients and in the winter, she enjoys her time in crocheting various projects. She spends many days teaching all ages crochet, as it becoming quite a popular pastime for many. Terri has serviced over 10,000 clients in her time with Merry Maids... some of her current clients she has been able to seen their children born, raised and moved on their own and still request her for their homes now. Amazing!
 
Ms. Joan began working for the Faltin's Merry Maids franchise as a team member and has worked many various positions within the company from cleaning homes to scheduling new clients. Her most recent activity with Merry Maids has been the Training Manager position in which she teaches all new hires what has made Merry Maids be the #1 cleaning company in the world from tips and tricks to proper processes in cleaning a home professional. She has touched hundreds of associates in her time with the Omaha office, and we are very grateful for that too!
